You're Missing It: Sarah Borges and the Broken Singles

A fine roots rock outfit, the quartet has rolled through a hard country Charlie Pride cover, some J Geils blues, a twangy instrumental and a bunch of highly melodic pop/rock numbers that have the backbeat of real rock 'n' roll.

Borges is a powerful singer whose voice adapts to each of the styles, sounding fully at home in each. She is also a fine entertainer although it has been hard to hear much of her between songs banter because of audience chatter and the fact that she sings so loud, which likely leads to a turned down mic.

But that's a little quibble about an excellent show that had them up and dancing early -- which was the point of rock 'n' roll before it got turned into "art".
